Jin Shin Do® - Fundamentals of Acupressure at Prairie Creek Therapeutic Massage and Education Center
This class teaches the basic fundamentails of acupressure and Jin Shin Do® : Body Mind Acupressure®. It is a great introduction class and can be used by anyone and everyone. It is simple enough to be used by lay people to help your family and effective enough to incorporate into an already existing bodywork practice.
Participants will learn:
- Basic Jin Shin Do® Neck Release
- 25 acu-points to help resolve headaches, backaches, constipation, nausea, and menstrual problems
- Skills and strategies for holding points on others

The Jin Shin Do® Acupressure Facial is a 12 step release focusing on the face & neck. This release includes the ten “Window of the Sky” points. These points are known for freeing the energy between the head & body or Heaven & Earth, which gives the points their spiritual reputation. This class presents the basic techniques necessary to effectively give Jin Shin Do® releases. Participants will learn to:
- Locate 55 acu-points in relation to surrounding anatomy
- Describe how Jin Shin Do® acupressure can be utilized for general relaxation and to release specific tensions
- Demonstrate acu-point combinations for common problems, including tension in various segments of the body: head, neck, shoulders, back, chest, abdomen, pelvis and extremities
- Bodymind Focusing Techniques: to process in a simple way the feelings and images which may arise from the body during acupressure release
- Perform simple movements which facilitate relaxation and structural-energic balancing through Qi Gong : Eight Pieces of Silk Brocade
- Identify the Strange Flows or 8 Extraordinary Vessels, and demonstrate their use for energy balancing and general relaxation

This class presents the addition theories and techniques necessary to effectively give full-body Jin Shin Do® releases. Participants will learn to:
- Describe the "Five Elements" or "Five Phases" theory and its application to acupressure
- Locate 65 additional acu-points in relation to surrounding anatomy
- Demonstrate understanding of local-distal point theory using Source, Luo, Tonification, Sedation, Front Mu and Back Shu points to relieve bodymind stress
- Assess energic imbalance; identify key tension areas through pulse reading and point palpation

Each of us has experienced the discomfort of back pain, and have felt frustrated in attempting to massage the spots that ache. Learn easy and effective techniques to obtain both back pain relief and the release of muscle tension by lying on tennis balls at specific back acupressure points. You will also learn specific points to apply finger pressure on the hands and legs to compound the pain relieft effectiveness. Bring a mat and 2 tennis balls inside a sock.
